According to the Turkish Civil Code, article 327, regardless of custody arrangements, parents have the responsibility of meeting costs of expenditure of children’s education and care in accordance with their financial situations. Parents are able to request this care maintenance from each other. But, for children born outside of marriage, in order to demand participation from the other parent in terms of costs, paternity should be established between the father and the child through acknowledgment of the child or a paternity suit.
