SHORT-TIME WORKING ALLOWANCE EXTENDED FOR TWO MORE MONTHS

As known, short time work can be applied in cases where the working time in the workplace is reduced by at least 1/3 due to general economic, sectoral, regional crisis and challenging reasons or the activity is stopped for at least four weeks. Employees who meet the necessary conditions in the event of short time work are paid a short work allowance up to 3 months for periods of absence.

During the pandemic period, many workplaces made a request to benefit from the short-time working allowance and continue to benefit from their demands. The duration of the specified short-time working allowance has been extended for one month, without the need for a new application, for the same employees who have previously benefited from short-time working and on condition that they do not exceed the same conditions and this issue was announced to the public with the Additional Decision of the Presidential Decree dated 29.06.2020.

After this extension, the “Additional Decision of the Presidential Decree No. 2915 dated 30.08.2020” regarding the extension of the short-time working allowance was published in the Official Gazette dated 31 August 2020 and in accordance with this decision, the duration of the short-time working allowance has been extended for two more months within the framework of the same principles and starting after the extended one-month period, for the workplaces that have applied for short-time work until 30.06.2020 (including this date).
