In the Turkish Civil Code, matrimonial property regimes are separated into numerous clauses, such as the legal matrimonial property regime, in which spouses will benefit equally from the assets obtained during marriage, the separation property regime, the community of goods regime, etc. Legal matrimonial property is the joint-ownership of any acquired assets. In this regime, each spouse benefits equally from the assets they obtained during the marriage. Besides the legal property regime of participation in acquired asserts, the Code also regulates a separate property regime which spouses can choose through an agreement.
